Holiday Decor Ideas For Your Apartment

  |     |   Renters Tips

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way into this holiday season with some fun ideas to turn your apartment into a winter wonderland. Whether you are celebrating virtually this year or gathering with close family, having a space that cultivates the spirit of the season can make the holidays feel that bit more magical. From themed Christmas trees to window wonderlands, below are some ideas for your Christmas tree, dining table and windows.

Christmas Trees

Regardless of whether you choose to have a fresh tree, buy one from a tree stand, or go synthetic, there are so many ways to decorate it! Any one of these will have everyone rocking around the Christmas tree!

The Wisconsin Sports Tree – Grab the red ornaments and garland along with your stuffed Buckys and plastic megaphones to bring this tree alive with game-day spirit. Or if you prefer the Packers, bust out the green and gold. Beads, cheese heads, and mini Aaron Rodgers bring some fun sporty spirit to your tree. If you want to honor both teams, you can do one half Badgers and one half Packers. Who are we to judge or make you pick a team? On, Wisconsin, and to all, Go Pack Go.

The Cady Land Tree – Think hard candy ornaments, candy canes, and colorful cellophane. It all comes together for a magical trip to CandyLand.

The Paul Bunyan Tree – It is lumberjack time. Repurpose your plaid clothing by tying them into ribbons for the tree. Find wooden decor and burlap to add to the natural ambiance of what is sure to transport you to the Wisconsin woods.

White with Red Accents Tree – There’s nothing wrong with keeping it classy and traditional. If you have a white tree, add pops of red with ornaments or poinsettias. This classic color pairing is elegant and chic and even has an essence of Badger flair.

Dining Room Tables

Nothing is quite as cozy as sitting down for a meal at a dining room table decorated for the holidays. Don’t forget to give your table some holiday love, too. If you do not have a dining table, all of these ideas work well for coffee tables as well. Here are some ideas to tie it all together.

Bring a menorah out and add decorative candles around it to help keep the spirit of Hanukkah alive throughout the season. Mood lighting for a candlelit dinner and the spirit of Hanukkah. Double bonus.

Use ornaments as decor. Ornaments are not just for the tree. Think of adding ornaments to a decorative basket, or display them more formally in ornament stands. You can even purchase an extra large ornament for the middle of the table.

A holiday-themed photo of loved ones brings back positive memories and is an easy way to personalize your table. All you need is a glass vase and some fluffy fake snow. Put the “snow” in the bottom of the vase and then fold the printed pictures inside it. This is an inexpensive way to bring the holiday spirit indoors.

A garland is a popular decorative staple during the winter months. It is a great way to frame a candle or other decor on your table, like a snow globe, winter village, or a vase with a holiday picture inside. They come in different sizes and shapes, and can add a nice pop of color to your table.

Decor for You and for Others

The great thing about decorating your windows and doors is that you get to share the festive spirit with your neighbors, too. Below are some fun ideas to brighten up your windows and doors for the holiday.

Metallic Bells and Stars: There are so many beautiful decorations that lay flat and can be displayed in your windows. Add some stars or grab a strand of bells to line the window.

Lights Lights Baby: This may seem obvious. Twinkle lights are commonly put up in windows. But you can get even more creative and plan out a design with the lights.

If You Like It You Better Put A Wreath On It: Wreaths on the windows or on your front door can add dimension. Coming in both traditional and non-traditional varieties, they are a nice inviting touch of the season.

What is the Poinsettia? In this case, the point is good cheer and success, two values these Christmas plants are said to bring to your home. They are traditionally red, but you can choose the color that best ties your space together. They even come in a mini size, perfect for window decor.

Decorative Curtains are Coming to Town: Why not change out the curtains for the holidays? If you are decorating your dining room table and Christmas tree, you may want to find a pair of curtains that compliments your space’s theme. Or go wild and buy a set with all of Santa’s reindeer on them. Have fun and use this opportunity to add some holiday flair.

The possibilities are endless. Whether you choose a more traditional route or want to be adventurous in your holiday decor, have fun with it and enjoy the holiday season.
