5 Things To Do After You Move

5 Things To Do After You Move

  |     |   Renters Tips

Moving into a new apartment home is an exciting time! Before you get caught up in all of the excitement, there are a few things you should make sure to accomplish shortly after you move in to make sure you have all your ducks in a row. Check them out below.

Change your mailing address. While announcing your move to your friends and family may make it seem official, it won’t automatically update your address on your bills, packages, or employment paperwork. Most services allow you to quickly change your address online, and it’ll ensure that your mail gets to the right address while giving you time to officially change it with the companies that need to know.

Deep clean. Before you begin moving all of your furniture to its new home, take this opportunity to deep clean every inch of your new apartment home. Once the furniture is in its place, it’ll be harder to reach those difficult nooks and crannies that can accumulate dust and dirt. Starting with a “clean” slate will help you start your experience off on the right foot.

Coordinate your cable/wifi services. You’ll want to be able to get connected to your cable/wifi services once you’re settled in your new space. Schedule a time that’s convenient for installers to come and set everything up. That way you can relax with a movie and connect with friends when your move-in is complete.

Introduce yourself to your new neighbors. One of the biggest joys of moving into a new apartment home is meeting new people. Get acclimated to your new community by interacting with your new neighbors and forming those connections with them. Attend community events and gatherings! Enjoy your new environment.

Make it home. Adding photos of family and friends, cooking meals, entertaining, and truly relaxing in your new space will have you feeling at home in no time. Make sure you give your new apartment home your personal touch and transform it into a space where you thrive. The possibilities are endless, but if you need some tips, check out our previous blog which walks you through how to master interior decorating in your rental.

By completing all of these tasks, you’ll be setting yourself up for a more enjoyable apartment home experience. It will help you have a smooth transition from your previous home and get you ready for all the opportunities in your new one.
