The Benefits of Renting

  |     |   Renters Tips

Renting is so much more than just a stepping stone into homeownership and serves as the number one choice for people of all ages. Whether you are thinking about downsizing, moving in with a loved one, starting a new job in a new city, or are going through any other other life event that calls for change, here are a few of the benefits renting has to offer.

Flexibility. Renters benefit from flexibility in ways that can benefit their lifestyles. Since renters are not tied to a mortgage, you can choose to move after a year or two of leasing without the hassle and financial burden of going through a home sale. This allows you to enjoy new places, people, and opportunities as you please. Also, if you decide you’d like a different home layout, you can jump ship to find a space you really love. And, if you need to make a change in the middle of your lease, you can also sublet your space.

Less Maintenance. When you live in an apartment community with a reputable management company, you’re not responsible for many of the amenities you get to benefit from. For example, landscaping, in-home repairs, pool and fitness center maintenance, snow removal and other seasonal items are items taken care of by your property management company which means you don’t have to worry about incurring additional costs throughout the year.

More Affordable. There are so many costs that go into buying a home which renters don’t have to think about. These include a downpayment, property taxes and even some utility bills. Depending on the apartment community, heat and water is often included in the rent which means you have less monthly payments to think about every month and you can choose how to spend the extra dollars in your wallet. Another item of note is renters insurance, which is a budget-friendly necessity as a renter and much cheaper than homeowners insurance.

Amenities. Some apartment communities come equipped with incredible amenities that are included in your rent. That means you get to enjoy extras such as a pool, a gym, a business center and even a library or game room, at no extra cost. Plus, all of these amenities are on-site, so you don’t need to travel to take advantage of them!
