Ways to Decorate Your Apartment Home for Thanksgiving

  |     |   Renters Tips

After you put your Halloween decorations away, don’t go straight to winter holiday decorations. There’s an in-between holiday that provides a world of creativity for decorating your apartment home: Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving decorations often don’t get as much attention as Halloween or the winter holidays, so we want to give them room to shine. Keep reading for tips and DIY ideas to decorate your apartment home for Thanksgiving!

Seasonal scents. The scents of Thanksgiving don’t have to resemble the food you eat but can evoke the feeling the holiday exudes: warmth, comfort, and togetherness. Instead of lighting candles (fire safety!), place aroma beads and reed diffusers around your apartment home or spray scented room spray around in scents that make you feel warm and cozy.

Fall floral arrangements. Just because flowers are most popular during the spring and summer months doesn’t mean they can’t have a place in your Thanksgiving decor! Putting together a floral arrangement of Marigolds, Goldenrods, Coneflowers, Petunias, and other fall flowers will create a vibrantly warm bouquet perfect to add some freshness to your apartment home.

Welcoming wreath. Who said wreaths are reserved for the winter holidays? Adorn your front door with a festive fall-themed wreath (check with your property manager to make sure this is within your lease agreement!) to really decorate your apartment home inside and out. If you have little ones, use this to create one with them! Check out this DIY project where your child can decorate their wreath with everything they’re thankful for.

Decorative doormat. Before you head back inside your apartment home, finish your exterior decorations with a decorative doormat perfect for the season. Whether you’re a fan of fun text like “Happy Fall, Y’all,” “Thankful,” or “Gobble ‘Til You Wobble,” or if graphic elements like leaves, pumpkins, or turkeys are more your style, there’s a doormat suited for everyone!

Now that your apartment home is decorated for the holiday, you’re ready to host it!
