DIY Crafts for Your Apartment Home

  |     |   Renters Tips

March is National Crafting Month! It’s a perfect time to emerge from the cold winter season into the vibrancy of spring and do some activities that reflect the shift in weather. And crafting isn’t only for children! Crafting for adults can help increase creativity, help with decompression and relaxation, and can make you feel a sense of pride in what you’ve created. Below are some crafts you can create for your apartment home that you’ll actually use!

Faux Leather Bookmark by The Ribbon Retreat. This DIY craft is perfect for those who love to read. Instead of folding pages or using a clunky piece of scrap paper, elevate your reading experience by creating your own faux leather bookmark! The Ribbon Retreat has a great how-to guide, plus the supply list is short and simple. All you need is faux leather, ribbon, scissors, and a hole punch. If you want to get fancy, you could stitch a fun pattern! Check out their detailed instructions here

Paint Chip Calendar by One Crazy House. Not only is this next craft totally customizable, but it’ll organize your routine. A paint chip calendar adds some fun to your schedule, is affordable, and less wasteful than purchasing a traditional calendar. All you need is paint sample strips in your colors of choice, a photo frame, a dry erase marker, glue, and a small piece of velcro. You’ll love how this looks in your apartment home! Coasters by HGTV. Coasters are a necessity in any home where you want to avoid marks on your table. Plus, they can be a great conversation starter! The wonderful thing about DIY is how it lends itself to so many different types of materials – whether it's something you have lying around or a material you seek out. HGTV does a great job at showing different DIY coaster examples from wine corks, to magazine pages, to porcelain tiles and everything in between. See how else they transform everyday items here

No Sew Pillow by StoneGable. Sewing can deter people from trying DIY crafts – but not this project! StoneGable shares their guide on making a no-sew grain sack pillow that can instantly upgrade your living room or bedroom. All you need are grain sacks (or any other type of fabric of your choice), pillow inserts, a hot glue gun, and an iron. Plus, this project can be completed in 30 minutes! Follow their step-by-step tutorial here.

We hope this blog inspires you to get crafty! If you complete one of these projects, make sure you tag us on socials.
