Your Guide to Hosting Overnight Guests

  |     |   Renters Tips

Hosting guests in your apartment home can be such a fun experience, and once you get into a groove, it can be a breeze! However, hosting guests overnight can require a little prep work. Here are some of our top tips.

Create a comfy area for your guests.
Whether you have a spare room, or a cozy setup in the living room, making your guest feel comfortable is of the utmost importance when hosting. To achieve this, bring out your softest blankets, fresh sheets, and, if your guests’ setup is in the living room, try to make the space a bit more private if you can. One option is a folding screen that can easily compliment the decor of your home.

Make sure you have extra supplies.
Having extra supplies on hand will give your guests a hotel-esque experience in your home! Plus, in the event they may have forgotten a necessity, they’ll be relieved and grateful to have an easy replacement. Things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, etc. are items you can easily purchase in travel sizes to help you stay within budget.

Place food and snacks strategically.
No one likes to be hungry, but not everyone feels comfortable making food in someone else’s space. Putting out a few snacks on the counter, or at the front of the fridge, will ensure your guests don’t go hungry. Plus, they don’t know where you like to keep your items, so moving common things like coffee creamer, sugar, pretzels, or bagels within eyesight will make it easier for them.

Let them know your community rules and guidelines.
While your guests are only there for a short time, they should know the important rules and guidelines of your community. Let them know where they should park, the hours of community amenities, how to enter/exit the property, etc. This will ensure that everyone has an easy stay and avoid any tough conversations down the road.

Happy hosting!
