How to Level Up Your Spring Cleaning

  |     |   Renters Tips

Now that spring is officially here, it’s a great opportunity to level up your spring cleaning and tackle areas you wouldn’t traditionally think to clean. Today’s blog covers those areas plus links to a couple of other blogs that might help!

Closet. Our closets are a peek into our personalities, and we tend to hold onto things that maybe don’t reflect who we are anymore. Spring is a great time to clean it out to not only reflect our current vibe but to make your space a little neater, too. To start, clearly identify a box or bag for items you want to toss, keep, or move into storage. Then, start going through your closet and determine what things should go into which pile. Be sure to get rid of anything that no longer fits or that you haven’t worn in some time. Once you’ve determined what’s staying and what’s going, organize the things staying with you in a way that makes it easier for you to access them. You’ll find you feel lighter after and it’ll be much easier to put together an outfit!

Technology. When was the last time you cleared out your email inbox? Or your desktop? Or your mobile apps? In organizing these areas, you’ll find it easier to find important documents and emails, give yourself more memory space and reduce the likelihood of tech burnout. Don’t forget to unsubscribe from those pesky email subscriptions, too!

Freezer & Refrigerator. Whether you’re clearing out long-forgotten frozen items or expired sauces, spring is a great time to sift through what’s in your freezer and refrigerator. Plus, you can use this as an opportunity to wipe down the interior of your appliances! Although we use these appliances daily, you’d be surprised at how much dirt can accumulate in the corner of those shelves. Avoid over-buying to avoid this purging process.

Storage. Whether you have storage in your apartment home or use a storage unit, these spaces often become accidental dumping grounds for things you really don’t need. This spring cleaning cycle, scope out the items you have stored and determine if you actually need them or if they can be tossed or donated. Depending on how much you get rid of, you could even save some money on an additional storage fee!

If this has stoked your spring cleaning fire, we have a couple more blogs to help you dive in. Check out more spring cleaning tips for renters and how you can actually save money as a renter by deep cleaning
